Seasons: 1 season. 9 episodes. Starring: Anna Chlumsky, Julia Garner, Arian Moayed, Katie Lowes, Alexis Floyd, Anders Holm, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney, and Laverne Cox. Inventing Anna is another mini-crime series inspired by the well-known article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”. The story of Anna Delvey, the Russian con-woman who tricked New York’s high society into believing she was a German millionaire gives a fantastic interpretation to the tale and preserves the style and prestige the original article had.
Why is this a keeper: Anna Chlumsky’s commitment to the role and to the show is impossible to ignore. She turns the story into pure entertainment. Exactly what you need when you decide to stay in on a Saturday night.
After Life (BEST)
Seasons: 3 seasons, episodes 18. Starring: Ricky Gervais, Diane Morgan, Tom Basden, Tony Way, Mandeep Dhillon, Ashley Jensen, David Bradley, Kerry Godliman, Penelope Wilton, David Earl, and Joe Wilkinson. After Life is a cynical British comedy series. It is set in a fictional town and tells the story of a newspaper writer who tastes the bitter flavors of life when his wife tragically passes away. From that day onwards, he changes his ways of life (not for the better) and does whatever comes to his mind regardless of other people's feelings.
Why is it a keeper: If you're one to enjoy shows about other people's moments of grief, then you are in for a treat. The show is a cross between actual drama and black British black humor at its best.
The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window (BEST)
Seasons: 1 season, episodes: 8. Starring: Kristen Bell, Michael Ealy, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Cameron Britton, Shelley Hennig, and Samsara Yett. The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window was originally titled just The Woman in the House. It's a parody of a psychological thriller showing the world from the perspective of Anna, who witnesses a severe crime from her living room window.
Why is it a keeper: Some shows are a must because of their story, however, some shows are a must to watch simply because not every day we come across magnificent acting abilities as Kristen Bell has. If not only for her, this show is worth the while.
Love Is Blind (BEST)
Seasons: 2 seasons, 25 episodes. Love Is Blind is a dating reality show inspired by married at First Sight and The Bachelor. It was first launched in February 2020 and concluded two years later. It was adapted into both a Japanese version and a Brazilian one, both having a format similar to the original.
Why is this a keeper: Unlike other love-finding reality shows, Love Is Blind is the one to watch. We are not sure why, but this show brought to the screens true emotional moments, all decorated in a coat of authenticity. Not only did the contestants fall in love with each other, but they got us to fall in love with them too.
Vikings: Valhalla (BEST)
Seasons: 1 season, 8 episodes. Starring: Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson, Leo Suter, Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin, and David Oakes. 2022 brought to our screens the magnificent story of the Vikings, roaring their way through the vicious lands of Europe. It's a historical drama series, a sequel to the series Vikings and what happened 100 years after.
Why is this a keeper: Why not? If you're a lover of historical shows and are overwhelmed by the costumes and scenery of that age, this is one you must not miss. The soundtrack, the plot, the actors, and the landscapes all contribute to one of Netflix's best releases so far.
