Surfing fans across the globe celebrated as news about the sport taking part in the Olympic games by 2020 broke out. While there are no other official announcements, rumors of the legendary wave-maker Kelly Slater overseeing the construction of a wave pool to open right before the Summer Olympics have surfaced on the internet. Resource says that its location will be in Tokyo Dome. People were then fast to speculate that the competition might not be in the ocean.

When asked about the rumors, the head of the International Surfing Association (ISA), Fernando Aguerre responded that they have agreed with the International Olympic Committee that the games will not be under an artificial environment as of this moment.

The ISA has been known to be long-time supporters of artificial waves development, and with Tokyo Dome scheduling a grand opening right before the 2020 Summer Olympics, rumors were imminent.
