Back in the 1980s, Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson were one of the most glamorous couples in Hollywood. They dated for six years and then married in 1988 in an intimate ceremony with five media helicopters trying to get some footage. They had one son, and for a while, things seemed to be going well. However, just five years later, they filed for divorce.
The whole thing became a media circus, and it took them over two decades to finish sorting out their finances. Accusations were lobbied by both sides, and Reynolds summed things up by telling People that he shouldn’t have married an actress, saying, “That was a really dumb move on my part.” Sadly, Reynolds passed away in 2018.
Christian Bale –Sibi Blazic
Former model Sibi Blazic was working as Winona Ryder’s personal assistant when she met Christian Bale. They met in 2000 and fell for each other hard, and soon went to Las Vegas to elope and tie the knot. The funny thing is that "The Dark Knight" star was not even planning on getting married before he met Blazic.
He told The Sydney Morning Herald, “Everyone was divorced in my family, so I didn’t have very healthy ideas about marriage.” Their daughter, Emmeline, was born in 2005, and their son, Joseph, was born in 2014. They are still happily married almost two decades later.
Bruce Springsteen – Julianne Phillips
Best known for her portrayal of Frankie on the television show "Sisters," actress Julianne Philips met singer Bruce Springsteen in LA when she was 24 years old. He was very impressed with her, and they married in 1985, but their marriage was rocky from the start.
The couple separated in 1987 and eventually got a divorce in 1989. Bruce paid tribute to their relationship in his album "Tunnel of Love." Bruce then found love with fellow musician Patti Scialfa. They were together for several years and decided to make it official after their first son was born. They got married in 1991, have had two more children, and are still going strong.
Colin Firth – Livia Giuggioli
Beloved British actor Colin Firth was sitting on the steps of an old church in Columbia when he saw Livia Giuggioli walking through the crowd. He said it felt like “...a bolt to the heart.” She had never heard of him before they met that day. They married in 1997 and have been together ever since.
The couple has two sons, Luca and Matteo, and Firth has an older son named Will from his five-year relationship with actress Meg Tilly. Firth is still an in-demand actor and won an Oscar for his performance in 'The King’s Speech,' and Livia is a documentary film producer and environmental activist.
Sylvester Stallone – Brigitte Nielsen
While at the height of his "Rocky" fame, Sylvester Stallone left his first wife to marry Brigitte Nielsen, a model, and actress whom he had only known for a few months. Nielsen was only 22 when they married and recently talked about the experience with Oprah, saying, “The biggest misconception, while I was with Sylvester, was the fact that everybody thought I married him because of money. They didn’t understand that he begged me to marry. He begged me!”
However, the two couldn’t manage to make it work and got divorced just two years later. The divorce turned ugly, and Nielsen was forced to move back to Europe to find work. Since then, both she and Stallone have found love again and have been married to their latest partner for over a decade.
