There was a scaled-back red carpet at the 78th Golden Globes, but we got to see this gorgeous Australian at the event because she was on board as a presenter. Margot Robbie dressed in all Chanel.
Her adorable black and white polka dot frock was from Chanel’s spring and summer 2021 runway. Ruffles and a carefree style mask the thigh-high slit. There was a Chanel belt on her waist and Chanel jewels adorning her ensemble. As the face of the French fashion designer, it all makes sense. The actress, who is also a producer, is a two-time Oscar nominee.
Elle Fanning - 2021
Elle Fanning donned one of the silkiest gowns the Golden Globes has ever seen. It is a fabulous satin Gucci, custom-made by Alessandro Michele. It features crystal brooches, bejeweled, and created by Gucci.
Fanning received a nomination for her portrayal of Catherine in “The Great.” Her aqua blue gown came to the Golden Globes virtually as parts of the 2021 bi-coastal event were broadcast on E! virtual red carpet. Fanning showed off her wraith-like ensemble on Instagram.
Kerry Washington - 2020
The most brazen fashion display on the 2020 red carpet was brought to us by Kerry Washington. The “Scandal” star rocked a black silk ensemble that incorporated a black blazer and a skirt with a long slit.
In lieu of a shirt, she wore a sparkling bling chain bodice. The belly chain was knotted and draped, presumably holding the blazer together. The creation is by Altuzarra. The actress was a presenter at the event. On Instagram, Washington tagged her look a #Glam.
Zoë Kravitz - 2020
The “Big Little Lies” and "Catwoman" star delivered a light-hearted but elegant presence to the 2020 red carpet. Zoë Kravitz looked striking in this Saint Laurent polka dot extravaganza.
The actress was a presenter at the awards ceremony, and it was a treat. Stepdad Jason Momoa, who was Aquaman at the time, stood at the podium with her. Kravitz shows so much sophistication because, besides being an actress, she is a fashion model for top brands like YSL.

The “Crazy Rich Asians” star was invited to the awards gala with a nomination for best actress.

Lady Gaga - 2019
Lady Gaga’s pastel statement at the 2019 Golden Globes was actually a nod to Judy Garland who wore a very similar dress in the 1954 version of “A Star Is Born.”
The haute couture Valentino gown from the 2018 runway was a strapless ballroom gown in lavender with detached balloon-like sleeves. She added a hint of accent to her platinum do. She looked like a princess, especially wearing that old-fashioned style diamond necklace. No tiara was necessary. And…, Gaga took home the gold. It was her second Golden Globe Award.
Saoirse Ronan - 2018
This custom Atelier Versace gown was modified for Saoirse Ronan. A team of all-women worked on the “Lady Bird” actress’ Golden Globe look.
From makeup to designers, Ronan requested women create her style. The originally all-black asymmetrical Atelier Versace was altered most noticeably with bold silver accents on the left shoulder and up the right side. Her team chose Cartier jewels. The diamond and sapphire drop earrings set off her eyes and a wide cuff bracelet completes the silver adornment.
Barbara Meier - 2018
German actress and model Barbara Meier dressed colorfully because she wanted to. She supports the cause but chose to dazzle in this pastel and sparkly gown with a rainbow-colored feathered cape.
She looks nymphlike with floral embroidering climbing up her bodice like ivy on a tree. It’s an enchanting look with crimson hair, and it was a bold move to go colorful at the 75th awards show.
Penelope Cruz - 2018
Penelope Cruz made a striking entrance in this black lace Ralph & Russo gown. The off-the-shoulder dress with full-length lace sleeves radiates elegance.
At the 75th Golden Globes on January 7, the red carpet saw mostly black gowns in recognition of Time’s Up, a legal defense organization for women. All but three red carpet invitees dressed in the all-black theme. Cruz paired her gown with Christian Louboutin heels and sparkled with Atelier Swarovski.
Jessica Biel - 2017
At the 74th annual Golden Globes, Jessica Biel arrived in this fantastic Elie Saab couture. The belted gown with a high slit has a black velvet top and a black-and-white skirt.

“La La Land” star Emma Stone graced the red carpet in this exquisite gown by Valentino. It featured a low V-neck and was embellished in sparkling stars.
A drop pendant by Tiffany & Co. punctuated her look. She clearly adored the gown. Memorably, she said, “It’s pink and there are stars on it.” What else can you ask for? A Golden Globe Award? Check. Stone took home the Best Actress prize for “La La Land.”
Priyanka Chopra - 2017
The lovely Priyanka Chopra made her first appearance at the Golden Globe Awards in 2017. She was invited as a presenter, and she couldn’t help but stun in gold.
Dressed in a plunging Ralph Lauren gown, the floor-length gilded dress with long sleeves covered her from her feet to her arms, but it opened up dramatically at the neckline. It was a head-turner. At the time, Chopra starred in the television series “Quantico.”
Amber Heard - 2016
Amber Heard arrived at the 2016 Golden Globes in this showstopper. It’s hard to stop staring at the coral-pink Gucci gown, partly because it looks just as fantastic from the front as it does from the back.

The cocktail-length dress stood out amongst the rest. It’s fun and she looks just like a gift wrapped up. It was ornamented brilliantly with Swarovski rhinestones. Saldana wore Christian Louboutin heels and held a Bottega Veneta bag.
Michelle Dockery - 2013
The “Downtown Abbey” star looked simply regal on the red carpet in 2013. Michelle Dockery stunned in Alexandre Vauthier couture. The gown by the Parisian-based designer featured a gold, high-neck bodice and white skirt.
The bodice was made of heavy lace embroidery stitched together on a sheer fabric. It was considered a risk choosing the brand, but she pulled it off magnificently and was heralded by fashion critics.

With Ryan Seacrest on her arm and donning a stunning Monique Lhuillier frock, Julianne Hough was crushing it! The gold and white gown was marvelous all over.

She’s wearing Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and clutching a Tiffany & Co. bag. Her jewels are Bulgari. The actress was nominated for her role in Showtime’s “Homeland.”
Sarah Hyland - 2012
At the 2012 Golden Globe Awards, Sarah Hyland made a pretty appearance in a vintage gown. The “Modern Family” star stepped onto the red carpet in a strapless Dolce & Gabbana accented with a figure-flattering black lace belt.
She wore Casadei heels and muted jewelry. There was only one problem. Hyland’s gown ripped apart, causing a wardrobe emergency. The back zipper broke, and she barely had time to grab hold of her dress before it fell off. Luckily any fashion disaster was averted!

“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star chose a chic Nina Ricci, a Parisian-style house. Rooney Mara said she picked the sexy black cutout dress because she liked it and wanted to represent who she really is, according to “The Hollywood Reporter.”
The minimalist elements of the gown were reiterated with Mara deciding not to wear jewelry. Her hairstyle pulled back tightly, also added to that look.
Elle Macpherson - 2012
Supermodel Elle Macpherson brought her A-game to the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Modeling a Zac Posen mermaid gown with a tulle train, Macpherson’s curves were nicely accentuated.
She held a gold Kotur clutch in her hand with bulky, diamond-ornated bracelets on her wrist. Wearing her hair flowing down in curls added to her very feminine, mermaid-like appearance. This dress definitely made an impact!
Anne Hathaway - 2011
Anne Hathaway made an elegant impression at the Golden Globe Awards in 2011. She wore Armani Privé, a gown that came straight off the Fall 2010 runway.

She plucked the shimmering organza gown straight off the Italian brand’s Spring 2010 runway. And despite a bit of rain attending the event, it did not rain on her parade. Bullock would soon have a Best Actress Golden Globe in her role in “The Blind Side.”
Olivia Wilde - 2009
The Golden Globe Awards in 2009 were widely anticipated since the 2008 gala was canceled. Olivia Wilde did not disappoint in this fairy tale gown. The lavender Reem Arca garment looked stunning on her.
The ruched skirt in soft pastel gave it a magical touch, as did her delicate lavender eyeshadow. The “O.C.” star was just 24 in 2009. At the time of the awards presentation, she starred in the Golden Globe-nominated, “House M.D.”

Miley Cyrus was absolutely in awe to have had the wonderful fortune to be able to walk the red carpet at the Golden Globes. She was 16 at the time and thrilled to partake in one of the entertainment industry’s top events. Obviously, most 16-year-olds don’t have Golden Globe nominations!
It was a dream come true. Cyrus attended with her parents. She wore a white strapless gown with sheer layering over a large gold print and hair cascaded in ringlets.
Kate Winslet - 2009
Kate Winslet arrived at the Golden Globe Awards in 2009 simply elegant. She looked winning in an empire Yves Saint-Laurent gown. It exuded sophistication in black.

Sienna Miller’s Grecian gown was the talk of the red carpet at the 2007 event. Miller is dressed in Marchesa in gold and white. The gathered scoop neckline is a toga-like look.
The Greek goddess theme is tied together with a braid crown encircling her head. Miller garnered some serious looks with “Factory Girl” and, here, she was making one of her entertainment fashion debuts. Miller would be nominated in 2008 for a Rising Star BAFTA.
Rinko Kikuchi - 2007
No one expected this. Rinko Kikuchi stepped onto the red carpet at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards in a barely lavender pom-pom dress by Chanel.
The pom-poms are actually chiffon camellias. Besides being sewn onto the skirt, pom-poms are also attached from the shoulders, dangling from a cape. It’s the collision of classy and cute. The actress was nominated for Best Actress in “Babel.”
Beyoncé - 2007
Beyoncé showed up to the 2007 Golden Globes absolutely radiating. She glows as brightly as the globe statuette awarded by the HFPA, which is, incidentally, made of real gold.
But who can think of awards when we have Beyoncé gracing the red carpet? Donning an Elie Saab, a shining halter gown with a plunging V-neck, it’s hard to look away. Queen Bey was at the 75th gala as a nominee for Best Actress and Best Song in the film “Dreamgirls.”
Keira Knightley - 2006
This 2006 standout was worn by Keira Knightley at the 74th Golden Globes Awards. The Valentino gown is just as marvelous today as it was then.
It is a wonder of simplicity, an all-white strapless column dress made of crepe satin. The decorative feature sets it apart. Mischa Barton - 2005
In 2005, Mischa Barton was the breakout star to watch out for. She played Marissa Cooper on “The OC.” At the 2005 Golden Globes, Barton stepped out on the red carpet with this daring gown.
The silver Loris Azzaro shimmered on her frame while making a sexy statement. Barton was onstage as a presenter that night, and her fashion moment was lauded by all and is still considered one of the best red carpet triumphs ever.
Diane Keaton - 2004
Diane Keaton looked elegant and sophisticated on the red carpet at the 2004 Golden Globes. In all white, she wore a Nehru jacket, long gloves, and an extravagant string of pearls. She looks winning and win she did. Keaton won the Best Actress prize for “Something’s Gotta Give.”
Her costar Jack Nicholson attended. Accepting the honor, she gushed over the fact that she had the rare opportunity to play the female love interest at her ripe old of 67.
Jennifer Aniston - 2004
Jennifer Aniston is a red carpet veteran, but her 2004 gown at the annual event made lots of impressions. Attending the Golden Globes that year in a deep-cut Valentino, Aniston sent shockwaves everywhere.
The vintage-style dress is simple, except for the belt-like strap that bridges the plunging V-neck. It changes everything. A low-cut dress might go unnoticed, if not for that little black strap.
Charlize Theron - 2004
Charlize Theron played it sweet at the 61 st Golden Globe Awards. The Christian Dior ruffle gown in yellow brightened the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Theron collected the Best Actress Globe for “Monster” while she was there. And she garnered a lot of “awes” for her ensemble. The spaghetti strap dress is made of silk chiffon. Dainty ruffle sleeves are designed to fall on her arm, making it look even sweeter.
Lara Flynn Boyle - 2003
This pretty-in-pink extravaganza may not be the most gorgeous gown ever worn to the Golden Globe Awards, but it is one of the most memorable. It certainly never ceases to bring a smile. Though it is playful, it is nonetheless couture. Designer David Cardona dished on the details of the now-famous tutu dress.
He said the ballerina look was accomplished by making the skirt out of silk tulle. It glitters in Swarovski crystals. And those shoes? Those are Chanel with silk ribbons attached.
Salma Hayek - 2003
At the 2003 Golden Globe Awards, Salma Hayek was stunned. She was invited to the gala to be celebrated for her role as “Frida,” so she wanted to wear something fantastic. She ended up choosing a Narciso Rodriguez gown, even though it was not what she had in mind, but it was more than fantastic.

At the 58th Golden Globes, Heche attended, hand-in-hand, with “Ally McBeal” star Lucy Liu. The actress told “Business Insider” that old flame Ellen DeGeneres frowned on her dressing sexy. In 2001, she walked the red carpet as sexy as she wanted to be.
Kim Cattrall - 2002
Here is “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall mixing it up on the red carpet at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards.

Courtney Love - 2000
Gracing the red carpet at the 2000 Golden Globe Awards, Courtney Love had to wear couture for the first time. So, she wore a Christian Dior couture collection from John Galliano. The sexy ripped design was partly inspired by a theme of homelessness, and partly Love’s own alterations.

Drop-dead gorgeous in a two-tone Pamela Dennis gown, Calista Flockhart simply adorned the red carpet. The timeless satin dress set her apart at the 1999 award show.
The previous year, the actress went home with a Golden Globe for “Ally McBeal,” the eponymous character from the sitcom everyone knew of. That was long before “Supergirl” and “The Birdcage.” Flockhart was nominated for the Best Actress Golden Globe for five consecutive years, which is every year the show ran.
Cameron Diaz - 1999
Even if we could forget about Cameron Diaz’s fashion footprint wearing this robe, we cannot forget why she is walking the 1999 Golden Globe red carpet. She was the star of the classic ‘90s comedy, “There’s Something About Mary.”
Wearing the kimono-like gown with black suit pants underneath is not sexy, but the character she played was the sexiest star of the year. Perhaps she was tired of being a sexpot.
