We’re not sure as to what is more difficult, whether fitting into the wedding attires you wore fifty years ago or keeping up a happy and healthy marriage for half a century. That, takes both skills and perseverance. Something that both Jim and Carole-Ann Stanfield did marvelously well. It’s almost like they didn’t age a day!
On a day just like any other, Jim and Carole-Ann’s granddaughter, Hayley, had warmed up to her grandparents and said that she wanted to see some old family photos of the couple. Jim, now 71-years-old, went to search for the old photo albums, but he ended up coming back with something entirely unexpected. Rather than the pictures, Jim found the couple’s wedding clothes from fifty years prior. Amazed at how well kept the clothes still looked, Hayley pleaded for her grandparents to put them on. There were some hesitations from both grandfather and grandmother but after some convincing, the two grandparents eventually agreed to try it on, but with little hope that the clothes would actually fit. It had been fifty years since they last wore it. The end result however astonished everyone – somehow, the clothes had fit them both perfectly well like it had just been made.
Following the discovery of this miraculous feat, Hayley, in a fit of joy and astonishment decided right away that she wanted to throw her grandparents a party to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. A golden jubilee. Jim and Carole-Ann came in wearing the wedding dress and tuxedo that they last put on back in 1966, and truth be told, they looked absolutely radiant and gorgeous. Fifty years ago, the couple had celebrated their honeymoon in Malta. Now, they both are thinking of going on a second honeymoon to Turkey. It is certain when we say we’re sure we speak for everyone as we wish them happiness for the rest of their beautiful lives.
Here, the happy couple are pictured in their 50-year-old wedding clothes at their 50-year wedding anniversary, sharing a kiss. The beauty of long lasting relationships. Jim and Carole-Ann Stanfield got married fifty years ago, and are still enjoying a happy marriage to this day. In all honesty, we all could learn a few tips from them.
If only we could get them to sit down and have an interview with us on how they managed to keep a marriage for that long. Relationship goals anyone? Marriages are indeed made in heaven and we hope that our first marriages be our last. To find the perfect soulmate, our “ride or die” for life. We all can’t help but be in awe of these two couples and appreciate what their granddaughter did for them. Bravo! Miss Hayley, for bringing this to our attention all the while ensuring that the bond between her grandparents never break.
We can only ask that Jim and Carole-Ann Stanfield bring back souvenirs from Turkey. These two have taught us the true value of love and marriage. Happy fiftieth anniversary you two!
